The bending strength order of tool materials is: high-speed steel (HSS) > WC-based ultra-fine grain hard alloys > TiC(N)-based hard alloys > Si3N4-based ceramics > Al2O3-based ceramics > PCD > PCBN. The order of magnitude of fracture toughness is:high-speed steel (HSS) > WC-based ultra-fine grain hard alloys > TiC(N)-based hard alloys > PCBN > PCD > Si3N4-based ceramics > Al2O3-based ceramics.Tools with excellent high-temperature mechanical properties are particularly suitable for high-speed cutting.
